Camping & The Campsite
Enjoy Your Stay!
Campsite Mules and Porters
Who Cares? Scotland (www.whocaresscotland.org) in conjunction with Community Action Nepal (www.canepal.com) are the team behind the Sherpa service this year at the Wickerman.
Going under, and indeed to be found underneath, the banner ‘Campsite Mules and Porters’ the team will offer to transport all festival goers gear and possessions from the car park to the campsite of choice and depending how busy possibly a tent pitching service as well - for whatever donation festival goers see fit.
All participants will be identifiable by their t-shirts which correspond to the charity and their services will be available from first thing on the Thursday till quite and the same again on the Friday.
The charity have already started raising funds and their progress can be viewed at www.justgiving.com/nacteam
Mobile Phones
It is possible to use Vodafone mobiles throughout the festival site. There are certain areas where other networks can be used.
No Animals
Unfortunately no animals are permitted on site. Please arrange petsitters well in advance of the festival. Vehicles with pets on board will be turned away at the gate and no refunds will be given.
Glass
In previous years some people have ignored the no glass on site ruling. Broken glass can pose a danger to all, especially children and the cleaning up staff, not to mention the poor animals who have been moved from their home to accommodate the Festival. So, for this year the No Glass ruling will be strictly adhered to.
To avoid being asked to leave your glass bottles at the entrance skip, it is much easier to simply pour the contents into plastic bottles beforehand and if you should forget to bring plastic bottles we will have some on sale.
Recycling of Litter
This year all the festivals waste is going to the state of the art Ecodeco plant on the out skirts of Dumfries. Here through various methods 90% of the waste gets reused/recycled. That means only 10% ending up in land fill sites, consdering we produce around 45 tonnes of rubbish this is a great achivment.
To this end we will give you a bin bag on arrival, it doesn’t matter what colour it is just put all your waste in it. At the end of the festival please place it in one of the rubbish areas for us to collect. Please help us keep the festival clean and tidy by using the bins and litter areas around the site.
Security
Security staff will carry out random checks so please do not bring any glass, illegal substances or objects which could be viewed as weapons. A zero tolerance to aggressive behaviour will operate as we do not want the actions of the few to ruin the festival for the majority.
Children
Children of all ages should be informed to ask for help from a policeman or security steward in the event that they get separated from their group.
Creche Facilities
It is worth noting that there are no creche facilities.
Fireworks
Fireworks and pyrotechnics are strictly prohibited.
