This page will furnish you on general information about the festival, much as the title suggests!  It is filled with handy hints and tips which if remembered should enhance your festival experience, some of the extra diligent amongst you may even want to take a print out or a more environmentally conscious approach would be to bookmark this page.

THE BASICS

Arriving At The Festival

Gates close at 23.00, so we urge you to arrive safely and in time unless you want to wait in a holding bay until the gates reopen at 09.00 the next morning.

Gate opening hours:

Thursday 24th July: 12.00 – 23.00

Friday 25th July: 09.00 – 23.00

Saturday 26th July: 09.00 – 23.00

Main Arena Opening Hours

In a change to the system the main arena will shut down for a short time in order to allow for a litter sweep and restocking.  This change has been brought about in the interests of health and safety of everyone attending.

Thursday 24th July: 18.00 – 02.00

Friday 25th July: 10.00 – 06.00

Saturday 26th July: 10.00 – 06.00

disabled access information

The Wickerman Festival will make every effort to make the 2008 festival as accessible as possible for all disabled ticket holders and their carers. However, we must point out that the Wickerman is an outdoor event held on grass farmland and as such there are natural hills and dips which make the ground uneven in areas. This may present challenges for those with serious mobility issues and wheelchairs.

From straight edge to hedonistic, there are many, many different attitudes to the use of alcohol and drugs.  The Wickerman Festival alongside the Dumfries & Galloway Alcohol and Drug Action Team feel that a harm reduction message is the most practical stance to adopt when dealing with several thousand people looking to party.
